So, after
Palestine's formal application for UN Membership in September, UNESCO has voted to admit Palestine as a full member today. This vote (107-14-52), with 81 positive votes required, has no direct bearing on the UN membership application, though the US threat to withhold their UNESCO assessments (22% in line with the UN assessment scales) is problematic.
